PILOT / Courtyard Building

Ovidiu Anton, Andrea Bellu & Matei Bellu, Larisa Crunțeanu, Andreea Faciu, Istvan Laszlo, Raluca Popa

Opening: May 30th, 2019 / 7 pm

Life elsewhere ends up as definitive, thus a transformation occurs, we are faced with something strange resembling still what we once might have known, now unknown, completely unknown even.

Strange (better said foreign) histories and narratives have caught on so much that they have replaced what was originally something ours. They take over slowly and transform the individual, outside and inside. Oddly enough, things become spoken this time in a universal language (how come you might ask, why not just foreign?), a very human language. By succumbing to the foreign, the individual seems to accumulate universal skills and emotions, those that facilitate the (primary) transmission of messages to anyone from anywhere.

The exhibition Glossary of Distant Narratives is an effort to bring back into a local context artists that have become by now part of what we could call a European narrative, and instances of their storytelling.

The new program developed by the team of the Paintbrush Factory finds its first iteration and manifestation in this somewhat emotional video exhibition. We may as well call it a comeback show.

Exhibition coordinators: Răzvan Anton, Cristina Curcan, Mihai Iepure-Górski

PILOT was launched in June 2016 as a project space of the Paintbrush Factory. Considered as an independent platform, it was founded as a need for a place that facilitates public access to the work of the artists from the factory community. With the development of a new strategy for the visual arts program, the Paintbrush Factory proposes to relaunch this project. Based on new content and  program that go beyond the concept of an exhibition space, transforming it into a space for dialogue, addressing current challenges.
